Weighing the "almost taxi baby" (aka Alleyah)
Happy bana, unhappy baby
Last night I went to a local mall in Davao and I felt like I was in the USA again. This was the upscale mall, people that come to our clinic would only go to this mall to window shop. Even though I enjoyed the comforts of being in such an upscale and westernized place, it is hard for me to except going there because I am here to serve the poor and not shop and spend money like I would at home
The middle of every Philippino mall is a place where you can buy furniture.
This mall is CRAZY big and 5 stories tall. Includes 2 grocery stores, movie theater, hundreds of stores and hundreds of various eating places.
Sebastian: our house pet, some sort of cat/rodent who is actually quite adorable (Trust me, he actually is, this is just a bad picture. He likes to jump on people's shoulders, which can be kind of terrifying if you are not expecting it.
A typical meal: I bought fresh green beans, squash, carrots, okra, peppers, eggplant, ginger, garlic, shallots and purple rice at the market and was expecting it to be a fortune because of the price of fresh food in America. However, all these vegetables plus 3 mangoes was under 100 pesos, or $2!! Awesome but sad all at the same time. It was hard to see all those Philippinos who were selling it to me....

CRAZY!!!!!
ReplyDeleteit sort of scares me that you don't know whether it is a cat or a rodent...
